Paper unknown.  Death of Old Resident       The death of Mrs. Catherine Lang, 70 years of age, widow of the late James Lang, occurred at the family home on Lake Linden Avenue Sunday morning, following an illness of several months.        The late Mrs. Lang was born in County Kerry, Ireland, coming to this country and settling in Detroit when fifteen years of age. Two years later she removed to Houghton, where she resided until her marriage and then came with her husband to Calumet.       Mrs. Lang is survived by five daughters and four sons, all of whom were at her bedside when death came. They are: The Misses Mary, Kathryn and Margaret at home; Mrs. Frank Livingway and Mrs. Ellis Livingway of Detroit; John, James, Hugh and Tom, and a brother, John Lawlor of Houghton.      Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning from the Sacred Heart church, with interment in Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton.

Newspaper is not named.  2nd obituary:  Mrs. Catherine Lang Passed Away Sunday  Mrs. Catherine Lang, one of Calumet's most highly respected residents, passed away Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the family residence in Laurium. The deceased was born in Ireland 70 years ago and came to this country when a youg lady, making her home in Detroit for a number of years, later coming to Houghton where she resided for a short time, moving to Calumet where the remainder of her days were spent. She is survived by the following five daughters, the Misses Mary, Catherine and Margaret, at home; Mrs. Fred [note-this is incorrect: it should be Frank] Livingway, of Laurium, and Mrs. Ellis Livingway, of Detroit, who was at home when the end came; also by four sons, Thomas of Laurium; James, John and Hugh at home. The deceased was well and favorably known and had a large circle of friends in the comminity who all unite in extending their deepest sympathy to the members of the family. Wednesday morning the remains will be taken to Holy Rosary church at 9 o'clock where a high mass will be sung for the repose of her soul. Interment will take place in Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton.  .

39.  Houghton County, Michigan, area newspaper, January 1912, JAMES LANG DEPARTS THIS LIFE  Old Resident of Copper Country Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke  James Lang, aged 69 and for many years a resident of the copper country, passed away yesterday morning at the family residence at No. 50, East Pine street, following an illness of six weeks. A paralytic stroke was the cause of death. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children, who are the Misses Mary, Catherine, Florence and Marguerite, Mrs. Julia Livingway, John, James, Hugh and Thomas, all of Calumet. The deceased was an engineer for the Calumet and Hecla Mining Co., employed at the Superior engine house.    The late Mr. Lang was born at Palmer Hill, N.Y. and left there when 18 years of age. He came to the Franklin in 1862 and remained there until 1865, then going to the Delaware. Later he went to the Huron mine and in 1867 came to Calumet and took employment with the Calumet & Hecla, residing here from that time till his death.    The funeral will take place tomorrow morning with services at the Sacred Heart church. There will be solemn high mass. Interment will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton.

Bertrand of Montreal, Canada, and Thomas F. Lang, son of Mrs. Catherine Lang of Lake Linden avenue, was solemnized this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Anne's church.  Reve, Fr. Paquet officiated.  The attendants were Miss Catherine Lang and Hugh Lang, sister and brother, respectively, of the groom.    The bride wore a beautiful blue suit with picture hat and a corsage bouquet of sweetheart roses.  Following the ceremony a dinner was served.    The groom, who is well known, is employed by the Houghton County Traction Co., while the bride, during her short residence here, has made a host of friends.    Mr. and Mrs. Lang will leave today for Chicago where they will spend two weeks after which they will make their home on Lake Linden Avenue.

93.  Defense Contract Admistration Services Region, Detroit, Highlights, June 4, 1971, "Approved Suggestion Gives Benefits Four Ways":  Miss Patricia Lang, Chief, Customs Branch, Transportation Division, received a Cash Award of $365 for an adopted suggestion.  This is the largest monetary award received thus far this year by a Region employee.  The suggestion resulted in a hange to AsPR 6-605.2, Contract Clause, which eliminated the superfluous memorandum copy of the Bill of Lading (or other shipping document) which was forwarded direct by the Canadian supplier to DCASR, Detroit Customs Branch at the time of shipment of goods into the U.S.  First year hard savings of $7,266 is the tangible benefits accruing to the Region in that there will be about 27, 600 fewer documents to be processed.  Additionally, although not considered in the award computations, there will be savings to Canadian contractors and indirectly to the U.S. Government of an amount estimated at $82,800 annually.  Lastly, but most importantly, is that the ASPR change will provide some measure of relief to Miss Lang and her Customs Clerks.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Northwest Ohio Korean War Veterans, and an active member of St. Vincent Retirees. Mr. Lang was past president of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association. Preceded in death by brother, Jim; sisters, Betty, Pat, and Kay, and granddaughter, Roberta Lang-Burke, he is survived by son, Robert Lang of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Marjorie Lang of Royal Oak, MI, Nichole Lang of Bowling Green, Laura Lang of Rossford, and Christina Lang of Asheville, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Robert Lang and Nigel Lang, and Chase and Lucas Heller, and great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Lang.
