In 1888 Mr. Schmachtenberger married Miss Susan Miller, who was born in Stark county, Ohio, being a daughter of Henry J. and Rachel (Baum) Miller, who were born in Pennsylvania, whence they removed to Stark county, O., in an early day and later to Richland county, then to Putnam county and in the year 1851 to Florence Twp, Williams county, where Mr. Miller died in March 1885.
